Create

This option is used to create a Reports Wand report definition from scratch. Click the Create button. This will launch a wizard to guide the user through the process.

Enter the short name for the report, as well as the report name. The short name and report name must be valid before you can proceed. This is indicated by a green tick on the left-hand tab. Optionally, you can enter a report description, choose a report category, select it as a favorite or choose a transaction code that is similar to this report definition. These selections will make it easier to find your report when a user wants to select it. To select a similar transaction code, click the drop-down button and start typing the transaction code or description in the filter to retrieve transaction codes that match your entry.

Click next.

To add a table or tables, start typing the table name or description in the available filter. The list of tables that match your criteria will be displayed in the available table list after a short time. Add the table(s) to your selected list.

Click next.

If you have selected more than one table, you will need to define the table join. Click Add Join to create a join between the tables you selected.

Click next.

You then need to select at least one required parameter for your report definition. Add at least one field from your table selections that the user will be required to populate when they execute the report.

Click next.

You then have the opportunity to select default columns for the report output. Add the columns that will automatically be selected when a user chooses this report.

Click next.

You can optionally choose a transaction code level authorization check. Click the drop-down button and type in the filter to choose the transaction code. If you select a transaction code here, Reports Wand will check if the user has authority for this transaction code before allowing them to execute this Reports Wand report.

Click next.

You can also optionally add a record-level authorization check. Click the Add Check button to add a record-level authorization check. Click the drop-down button for the authorization object column and type in the filter box to select the authorization object you want to test for each record of the report selection. In the ID field, select the input field to the authorization object test and select the field you wish to pass as the input to that in the field column. Note, for the activity input field, the activities available are appended to the bottom of the field list.

Click Finish to create your report definition.
