Expand Segment Value Hierarchy

Expand Hierarchy works in the same way as the Expand Segment Values feature except that it will expand using the defined hierarchy. For this option to work your starting cell must contain a single parent value. The child values are expanded in the defined hierarchy and indented to show the various levels in the hierarchy. You can expand the full hierarchy or just one level.

You can use the Hierarchy Level Spans Columns option to have each level of the hierarchy inserted into a separate column rather than indenting the values in a single column. See the GL Wand User Options to change this setting.

Expand Hierarchy All


You can expand hierarchy all in either a down or an up direction.

  1. Select a cell that has a single parent value.
  2. Choose the relevant segment from the segment list e.g. “Account”.
  3. Click the expand button drop down, and click the Expand Hierarchy All option.
  4. The child values are retrieved from Oracle and are inserted below the selected cell in the defined hierarchy.

Expand Hierarchy 1 Level


The Expand Hierarchy 1 Level feature works in exactly the same way as the Expand Hierarchy All feature above, except that GL Wand will only extracts the values one level down, or one level up the hierarchy.
