Drilldowns

In addition to distributing your Wands report, you can also specify an optional drilldown be performed for a single cell or a range of cells. Both GL Wand and Reports Wand drilldown types are supported, the result of the drilldown will be included in the output file. Drilldowns provide the recipient of your output file, with detailed information behind balances or key figures in your Source Report that were calculated using a GL Wand or a Reports Wand functions. Recipients do not need an Wands license to view drilldown detail.

Named Range

Select the named range that includes Wands drillable formulas. Report Distribution Manager finds any named ranges that reference a single cell or range of cells within the source report and lists the named ranges within the dropdown menu. The Add Drilldown and Remove Drilldown buttons can be used manage the list of drilldowns.

Drilldown Type

Option Description
GL Wand GL Wand type drilldowns will be performed for all functions included in the Named Range. If a named range references multiple cells containing GL Wand functions, the result of the drilldown for each function will return in a single drilldown template. The default drilldown template will be used for GL Wand drilldowns, which can be customized by the user. To change your default GL Wand drilldown template click on Manage Templates within the Customize Drilldown section of the GL Wand ribbon toolbar.
Reports Wand Reports Wand type drilldowns will be performed for all functions included in the Named Range. If a named range references multiple cells containing Reports Wand functions, each function must be derived from the same report definition and contain the same Report To cell reference. A new report template will be created for Reports Wand drilldowns if a drilldown template is not included in the source report.

If you are distributing a Source Report that contains Reports Wand drilldown templates, each drilldown template will be re-executed with the last used parameters when the RDM Template is executed. Any drilldowns specified will then be performed for the selected parameter values. It is recommended that you enter and save parameters for each Reports Wand drilldown template within the Source Report. You can set the parameters to only return one row by placing a “1” in the Limit field. This will ensure the drilldown template re-execute will perform quickly when the RDM Template is executed.

If you are including the result of a drilldown in your PDF or HTML output file, adjust the print layout in the Source Report to ensure it shows on the page as intended.

Drilldown Level

For any GL Wand drilldown you can specify the level of drilldown to be included with the output file. Various levels of drilldown exist.

Each level of drilldown will be displayed in a separate worksheet within the workbook output file when the Excel output option is selected. For all other output options, each level of drilldown will be displayed as a separate page or tab within the output file.

Next, select your email recipients or click Finish to create or add to the RDM Template.
