Email

Report Distribution Manager (RDM) automates the distribution of your Wands reports via email. Multiple recipients can be specified for the distribution of a single report. Recipients can be specified by manual entry or selected from a List of Values containing email addresses from a company or personal address book. Email groups included in an address book can be utilized to manage distribution lists. Email settings and address books are controlled in the RDM User Options. Email is not required to distribute a report with RDM.

When a report is distributed via email, an email message is sent to the selected recipients with the Subject and Message you defined. The report output file will be attached to the email message, if multiple file output options are selected, multiple files will be attached to the email message. In addition to the report output file that is attached automatically, you can attach additional files to support your report.

Email Field Description
To Direct recipients of the email message
CC Carbon Copy recipients of the email message
BCC Blind Carbon Copy recipients of the email message
Subject Subject line of the email message
Message Body of the email message. Supports HTML.
Attach additional files Additional files to attach to the email message, optional.

If you are manually entering in email addresses, separate them with either a comma or semi-colon. Illegal or out of size limit additional files will cause sending email message failed.

If you are selecting from a LOV for email addresses, you can use a CTRL + SHIFT + Click to add a selection of multiple email addresses. When distributing reports to a large number of recipients, it is recommended to enter the recipients in the BCC field to avoid a recipient inadvertently replying to all of the recipients.

If you are distributing multiple reports under one Merge File Name, include the email recipients on the last report template row of the Merge File Name. For example, three Source Reports are being merged under the same Merge File Name. All three Source Reports are included in the same RDM Template and have the same recipient list. Enter the Email message and recipients on the last of the three rows in the RDM Template to only send one email message to the recipients. If the email recipients are included on each line, they will receive three duplicate emails with the same output file.

Next, select any optional Advanced Options or click Finish to create or add to the RDM Template.
