The special Get Balance Summary function can be used to report off Oracle General Ledger summary accounts. The parameters function the same as the Get Balance function but the value returned will accumulate balances on summary accounts only.

This is a new function which replaces the summary accounts functionality in GL Wand version 4. With version 4 each Get Balance formula could only be linked to a single summary account combination. With this new function you have the option to link to a single summary account combination or you can use the range, list etc. criteria for the segment value parameters in order to summarize many summary account combinations into a single balance.
