Shared Templates Drive
The Shared Templates Drive is an integrated document management system that makes it easy to securely share, organize and discover Wands related Excel template files. It is accessible from the Wands and Product menus.
What type of files should be stored in the Drive?
When uploading a file you will have the opportunity to classify it using one of the following Template Type classifications:
Template Type | Description |
---|---|
GL Wand | Any file containing GL Wand related formulas and calculations. |
Reports Distribution Manager | RDM Template files used to replicate and distribute GL Wand Reports. |
Scheduler | RDM Scheduler files used to schedule the execution of RDM Template(s). |
Planning Wand Upload Template | RDM Scheduler files used to schedule the execution of RDM Template(s). |
Reports Wand | Reports Wand Reports and files containing Reports Wand Run Report functions. |
The Shared Templates Drive is not intended to be a replacement for your Enterprise document management system and should only be used to store template files related to Wands Products.
To keep your Shared Templates Drive organized and uncluttered, encourage users to use this simple rule of thumb: “If you are unable to classify your file using one of the Template Type classifications, it probably means that it should not be stored in the Shared Templates Drive“.
File Permissions
File permissions are controlled by file ownership and the Wands System Administrator profile. The following table details the Shared Templates action and it’s related control.
Action | Control |
---|---|
Open a File | A file can be opened by any user. |
Create a File | Any user can create a new file. |
Edit a File | Only the owner or users assigned the Wands System Administrator profile can edit a file. |
Delete a File | Only the owner or users assigned the Wands System Administrator profile can delete a file. |
Read Only Access
Read Only Access to the Shared Templates Drive can be enabled per Wands user. This is done by a Wands Administrator in the User Permissions stage of the Administrator Options Dialog. Read Only Access means the user will be restricted to opening workbooks saved in the Shared Templates Drive. They will not be able to create, edit or delete any existing workbooks.
User Permission
The Shared Templates Drive Read Only Access user permission is only visible if the Shared Templates Drive is enabled. By default, users have standard access to the Shared Templates Drive, meaning they can create, edit and delete shared templates.
The Shared Templates Drive Read Only Access feature is not supported for customers using the insightsoftware Cloud Platform.
