Multiple Instances
In GL Wand version 4 users were able to launch multiple instances of Excel and, because our application ran entirely inside Excel, they were able to run multiple instances of our application too. In version 5 support is available for launching multiple instances of the Wands application each linked to its own instance of Excel. However there are some specific instructions that must be followed:
- If you are connecting to two different instances they must both be running the same version of the Wands.
- If you are connecting to the same instance we recommend that you connect each instance of the Wands application with a different user. The reason being that all of your options and the current application state are stored against the current user. Running multiple sessions connected with the same user can result in unexpected behavior (note that this issue is not specific to multiple instances, the same issue would exist connecting via the same user from two different PCs).
- You must launch the second instance in an entirely new browser session. For Internet Explorer for example, use the menu option File > New Session to start a new session.
- The second session must be launched while the initial session is idle.
This feature is recommended for advanced users only.
