Explode Tree Hierarchy
Explode Hierarchy works in the same way as the Explode Tree feature except that it will explode using the defined hierarchy. For this option to work your starting cell must contain a Tree and Tree Node value (use the notation TreeName:NodeName e.g. ACCTROLLUP:CASH). The colon “:” is a configurable delimiter. System Administrators can set this on the Delimiter Options form. The Tree Nodes and ChartField values are exploded in the defined hierarchy. You can Explode the full hierarchy or just one level.
Explode Hierarchy All
- Select a cell that has a single Tree and Tree Node value (use the notation TreeName:NodeName e.g. ACCTROLLUP:CASH).
- Choose the relevant Business Unit in the drop-down list.
- Click the Explode button drop down, and select Explode Hierarchy All.
- All the values in the Hierarchy are retrieved from PeopleSoft and each one is inserted into a new spreadsheet in the current workbook.
The most logical use of this feature is to Explode a report to get the details of a Tree Node.
- Start with a complete GL Wand report.
- Select the cell in the report that drives the Get Balance formulas e.g. a department ChartField value in the report header.
- Choose the relevant Business Unit from the drop-down on the toolbar.
- Click the Explode button drop down, and select Explode Hierarchy All.
- GL Wand will duplicate the worksheet for each hierarchy value found for the selected Tree Node.
Explode Hierarch 1 Level
This works in exactly the same way as the Explode Hierarchy All feature above, except that GL Wand will only extract the values one level down the hierarchy.
