List of Values
The list of values dialog can be displayed in a number of places in the application:
- You click on the “Show List of Values” button when an Excel cell is selected which has been previously formatted as a special LOV cell using the List of Values – Create functionality.
- A number of other dialogs will also use this list of values window.
You can use the list of values as follows:
- Use the grey dropdown to select a Tree to work with or leave it blank to display all Trees.
- Enter a value to search for in the filter panel. The tree viewer will expand the trees to show node values that match the entered text. The text entered will be compared to the node name and description of the list. The Tree will be expanded if either field contains the text entered in the filter panel. You can move between search results using the arrows control. The values between the arrows shows the nnumber of search results and the order of the entry that is currently highlighted in that list.
- Click the “Add” button to add the current item to the selection list on the right. You can also click and drag an item to add it to the selection list.
- To remove an item from the selection list, ensure that it is highlighted and then click the “Remove” button or double-click the item in the selection list and it will be removed. You can also click and drag an item to remove it from the selection list.
- If you want to exclude certain values from a tree node or range then select the value in the left panel and use the “Add Exclude” button.
Once you have added all the required values to the selection list click “OK” and the following will happen:
- If you started in a special LOV cell the results will be entered into the cell.
- If you started on another dialog the results will be entered into the field where the list of values originated.
Advanced edit: Once the results are entered into the cell or dialog, you can edit these in the Excel Formula Bar to create ranges and exclude certain values.
- Range: To add a range of values (e.g. Accounts 1000 to 2000), use the designated range symbol (e.g. 1000-2000). By default the range Special Character is set to ‘-‘.
- If these characters are already reserved within your PeopleSoft environment, Range, Exclude and other Special Characters can be configured by a GL Wand Administrator on the Admin Options form on the Wands ribbon.
To add values that are not part of a tree, use the ALL_VALUES Tree which lists all valid Chartfields.
Clicking on a Tree node in the Selected panel will expand the relevant Tree to show the position of the Tree node on the left.
