Ledger and Segment Selector
Once you have logged on the Book and Segment dropdowns will be populated based on the selected responsibilities.
Ledger
The Ledger dropdown list can be used to select the Ledger that you wish to work with. If you are licensed to use the Multiple Ledgers feature, or are in trial, then this list will contain multiple values in the following situations:
- If you selected multiple responsibilities during the logon process all the Ledgers linked to those responsibilities will be listed.
- If you selected the special “All Ledgers” option, all the Ledgers configured in the Oracle instance will be listed.
- If you log on to an Oracle Release 12 instance and the data access set linked to the chosen responsibility contains more than one ledger or ledger set, then each of these ledgers will be listed.
The number in brackets () indicates the Ledger identifier. This number can be used in various GL Wand formulas and other functionality in order to obtain information from a specific Ledger.
The item also shows the responsibility that is linked to the chosen Ledger. This can be useful if ever there is doubt about which responsibility resulted in a particular Ledger being included in your GL Wand session.
Segment
This dropdown list will be populated with a list of the segments that are available in the currently selected Ledger. The number in brackets indicates the segment number. The segment list also includes the special value Period which is used for discovering period names. In the example shown the selected segment is Company and it is identified as segment 1. Certain GL Wand functions require the segment number as an input parameter.
