Journal Wand
Journal Wand allows Excel to be used to upload journal entries to the Oracle General Ledger.
The first step is to create a custom Journal Wand template using the Create Journal Wand Template tool. After selecting the type of journal for the template, you are able to select the fields for the layout from the list of applicable fields for the type, and modify their order within the template. Once the template is created, the Edit Journal Wand Template tool should be used to make changes to the field selection and column order.
After creating the template, the journal data is entered on the template (refer to Populate Journal Wand Template). An Account Combination tool is available to help search for and select valid accounts for the journal. The Descriptive Flexfields tool facilitates the capture of valid descriptive flexfield values for a journal line. The Journal Attachments tool can be used to capture details of file/web page attachments which are then uploaded to Oracle, either during the journal load process or from within the Journal Attachments tool for journals that have already been uploaded.
Once populated, the template may be validated only, or validated and loaded into Oracle. Refer to Load Options and Loading Journals for more information on this process.
For more information on the available options, refer to the Journal Wand User Options section.
